The HighRoad system's intercity vehicle model was designed for specific application between metropolitan areas desiring high-speed commuting. Like the urban/suburban model, the design employs the use of existing components. It uses pre-existing highway rights-of-way, computer technology, and simplicity of design to minimize costs. As a result, communities can provide low-cost commuting connections with other distant communities. Frequent and predictable departures make the system more attractive to business users than using an airline. On medium-length travel, it can actually be faster than flying in a jet. And, drivers on interstates will see repeated advertisements for using the system with each quiet passing of a Silver Bullet at nearly three times the speed of their own vehicle.
